Marion/Walthall Release Paths

Marion/Walthall County Correctional Facility is a regional correctional facility at Columbia in Marion County. It serves Mississippi’s state prison system. Regional facilities house state inmates through agreements with counties, while sheriff-appointed wardens manage daily operations and the Mississippi Department of Corrections provides oversight. The joint name does not make it the Walthall County local jail.

A person leaving the facility may enter parole, earned-release supervision, or complete a sentence. The person may also move to another state facility. That last event is a transfer, so state custody continues. The MDOC current location, separate parolee result, and discharge or movement record must be read together. County of conviction or residence does not prove where a state inmate is housed.

Confirm a Marion/Walthall Release

The MDOC home page provides separate Inmate Search and Parolees Search routes. This separation is useful. The inmate side shows a state prisoner’s current public placement and the estimate labeled “Tentative Release Date.” The parolee side can show a person who left prison on parole but remains under supervision. Neither public form is a complete archive of all former state inmates.

1. Search the Inmate form by MDOC ID when possible, or use the exact first and last name.
2. Compare identifiers, then read the current location, county of conviction, sentence facts, and Tentative Release Date.
3. If the location changed, follow that new facility. A move does not prove a community release.
4. Run the separate Parolees Search and review county, supervising officer, and Flat Time Date if shown.
5. Ask MDOC Records for the discharge certificate, time sheet, or existing movement or discharge record when the public forms do not settle the event.

The current public interface has no verified fully discharged result with a dependable actual-release-date field. A passed estimate, a missing inmate result, or no parolee match remains uncertain. Marion/Walthall Facility Release Records

The facility telephone can route current operational questions, but MDOC Records owns sentence computation and state discharge documentation. State records staff can address an existing time sheet, movement record, discharge certificate, or other maintained record. Give the MDOC number, correct name, and approximate date. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate before work begins.

MDOC’s public-record policy lists a charge of $0.15 per mechanically reproduced page. Qualified labor beyond one hour, vendor costs, and mailing costs may also apply, and advance payment or an estimate may be required. A narrow request reduces ambiguity. It should ask for an existing record rather than requiring staff to create a new explanation.

Marion/Walthall State Release Fields

The regional system creates a mixed name but not mixed record ownership. The facility operates through county administration within an MDOC agreement. MDOC oversees the state inmate placement and computes sentence, jail credit, parole eligibility, earned-release-supervision dates, and discharge dates. The facility handles day-to-day custody. This is not the pretrial Walthall County Detention Center path.

A Walthall conviction can place someone at Marion/Walthall, but a Walthall resident may be elsewhere. Search by identity first, then read the current location field. The public detail may include the MDOC number, entry date, location, location-change date, sentence length, offense, county of conviction, sentence date, and Tentative Release Date. Those fields describe state custody and a forecast. They do not replace the release execution record.

Marion/Walthall Facility Release Date Limits

MDOC’s Tentative Release Date can change. Sentence structure, eligible county jail credit, court amendments, disciplinary loss, earned-time eligibility, detainers, parole action, revocation, and release-plan approval can affect the calculation. MDOC says its Records Department performs time computation, while case managers handle final planning. A public estimate must not be treated as an appointment.

Final state release can require travel-plan review and a discharge certificate. MDOC says final processing may take 30 to 45 days. It can purchase in-state bus travel to the destination or nearest city when requested, but not out-of-state travel. These are MDOC prison-release practices. They are not published procedures for the Walthall County local jail.

An inmate may request a time sheet from a case manager and share it. The time sheet and final certificate provide a better event trail than a copied public estimate. When a date changes, ask Records whether sentence data, jail credit, a detainer, or another lawful factor altered the calculation instead of applying a percentage by hand.

Eligible county jail credit must relate to the same cause number, and MDOC obtains that credit from the county of conviction. A missing or corrected Walthall jail-credit entry can therefore move the tentative date. Concurrent or consecutive sentence structure also matters. So do a new sentence, a court amendment, loss of earned time, or a detainer. The public result cannot show the full calculation behind every change.

Marion/Walthall Post-Release Supervision Records

Parole and earned-release supervision do not mean the same thing as full discharge. Parole follows a Mississippi State Parole Board decision for an eligible state prisoner. Earned-release supervision is calculated within the statutory state framework. In both cases, a person can be outside the prison and still subject to state supervision. Two Walthall Facility Names

The local names must remain distinct. Walthall County Detention Center and Walthall County Jail are aliases for the current Sheriff facility in Tylertown. Marion/Walthall County Correctional Facility is a separate regional facility in Columbia. A Walthall arrestee may move from the local jail to regional or state custody, but that movement is not proof of community release.

Follow the custodian after each move. The Sheriff record closes the local booking. MDOC establishes the state placement and forecast. A parolee result supports conditional community release, while the discharge or movement record confirms the final state event. The jointly named regional site should never be searched through the Sheriff’s 48-hour cards as if it were a second county release feed.
